Ubuntu programs and services are grounded in human rights values — equality of human dignity and worth, equal opportunities for everyone, respect of diversity, self-determination, and do no harm. UCAS & ADPA associate professionals employ universal human rights values, cooperative values, critical social theory, and other evidence-based practice theories in their work with stakeholders and clients.
The program incorporates lived-experience knowledge of the complex, dynamic, and destructive nature of race ideology and the resulting racism — at multiple levels (internalized/personal, interpersonal, institutional, cultural, and structural) and in many forms. It is cognizant of the negative impact of racism on people’s mental and physical health, on human development, and on social and economic relationships. Ubuntu promotes healing and works towards the elimination of systemic racism as part of research and evidence-based practice — with ongoing evaluation of outcomes.
Arts and performing theatre for social change: drumming, dance-singing, dialogue and drama.
